PNG is a lossless image format, meaning it doesn't introduce the compression artifacts that JPG can around sharp edges and text -- making it a better choice than JPG when a PDF page contains diagrams, screenshots, line art, or text-heavy content where crisp edges matter.
This produces the same page-by-page rendering as our PDF to JPG tool, just saved in PNG format instead. Choose this over JPG when file size matters less than pixel-perfect sharpness.
PNG doesn't lose image quality the way JPG's compression can -- better for diagrams, scanned text, or anything with sharp edges. JPG files are typically smaller, which matters more for photographs.
You control it directly via a DPI setting -- 300 DPI is a good default for print-quality output.
