PDF/A is a version of PDF made for long-term archiving: fonts are embedded and colours are fixed, so the document looks the same in many years. Courts, government offices, universities and companies often ask for it.
LovelyPDF creates PDF/A-2b with Ghostscript, a well-known open-source PDF engine. Your file is uploaded only for this conversion and deleted immediately afterwards.
PDF/A-2b. It is the version most offices accept, and it allows modern features such as transparency.
The tool checks that the new file carries the PDF/A mark and colour profile. If an office uses a strict validator, a few unusual PDFs (for example with broken fonts) may still need fixing in the original program.
